If you have been granted Legal Aid by the Ministry of Justice, then you do not have to pay Raewyn. In some cases Legal Aid may decide that a client has to repay some of the legal costs to the Ministry of Justice.
Raewyn also accepts private instructions (via an instructing solicitor). Prior to engaging Raewyn an estimate of the costs for her services will be provided, on a case by case basis.
-
Solicitors often approach Raewyn to engage her services to represent clients in criminal proceedings. This is because she is a specialist in this area. For all private instructions a solicitor referal is required. If you don’t have an instructing solicitor - don’t worry, one can be arranged for you.
Legal Aid clients do not need an instructing solicitor.

The answer to this question in almost all cases is no. Everyone has the right to remain silent and to instruct and consult a lawyer before deciding whether to answer questions by the Police. Raewyn can be engaged to represent clients at the pre-charge stage whilst a police investigation is underway. It is advisable to engage a lawyer as early as possible, to ensure that your rights are protected.
